Country icon Emmylou coming to play the zoo
02:25 PM PDT on Wednesday, June 18, 2008
PORTLAND, Ore. -- The summer concert season just keeps getting more packed this year, as the Oregon Zoo added Country Hall-of-famer Emmylou Harris to the July lineup.
Harris’ latest album "All I Intended to Be," was released this month. The Grammy award winning singer came to fame in the 70s, earning seven gold records, and six No. 1 country singles.
"No modern female country artist has been as influential or consistent as Emmylou Harris," zoo events coordinator Krista Swan said. "Her beautiful songs, coupled with the lovely duets of Jimmy Gaudreau and Moondi Klein, make for an evening of unforgettable music."

Also on the bill are Jimmy Gaudreau and Moondi, founding members of the bluegrass supergroup Chesapeake. Their album "2:10 Train" fuses traditional bluegrass with rock and acoustic influences.
The show is July 20 and tickets are available from the Oregon Zoo and Ticketmaster.
