Oregon Zoo director Vecchio leaving for FL job

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Oregon Zoo director Tony Vecchio is leaving Portland to take the director's job at the Jacksonville Zoo in Florida.
Vecchio arrived in Oregon in 1998. Under his leadership, the zoo posted record attendance in nine of his 11 years. He also oversaw the award-winning Great Northwest exhibit and led zoo efforts to bring condors back to Oregon.
Vecchio's last day on the job will be July 6.
