I came home from having coffee with some friends to find this Juvenile Bald Eagle by our pond in our backyard. I quickly grabbed my camera and started taking pictures from in our wicker room thru the window. As it moved along I switched from window to window, then went out front and along the side of the house to the backyard and took more. It was perfectly content to let me shot as many pictures that I wanted. I did take a total of 80 pictures before I had to leave. I could have stayed there all day taking these pictures. I am 64 and this was one of the Coolest things I have ever done. Bill Baze, Albany OR

Today (June 14th, 2012) around 12:30PM, in the Kerns neighborhood (between NE 23rd and NE 24th near Everett and Flanders).
The crows showed up from all directions, congregated in and around the trees and held a big ruckus for about 15 minutes.
See the video on YT.

Perhaps an expert can explain what this was all about.

A hummingbird made her nest on the shrinky-dink chandelier (made by our son's 1st grade class) that lights up our deck. We named her Fancy since liked the chandelier so much.

We watched her make her nest which looked complete in about 3 days, but she kept working on it, perfecting it. It was amazing to watch her do this work - especially seeing her show up with a beak full of spider webs and smooth them around the outside of the nest.

She laid 2 eggs, a day apart. They both hatched on Saturday, May 5. By the time they were about 10 days old there wasn't room for her anymore so she mostly comes just to feed the babies but she keeps a close eye on them and chases away birds and squirrels if they come anywhere near. She is also very careful that predators don't see her feeding the babies. She surveys the area before she lands to do so.

We will miss these guys when they're gone!

About 5 years ago a pair of ospreys started building a nest on the power pole next to the pole that the current nest resides, someone contacted the power company about it, after a bit the power company came out and erected the pole, put the platform on it and moved the nest to it. That made everybody happy... including the couple you see in the photo. Of course when the raptors came home, and the geese flew in, well they made a bunch of noise but that's about it. they sure look funny sitting up in that nest though!

My husband, John, was driving home from work and saw a bald eagle in a tree just off of Walnut Street in Tigard.
