Westview freshman Alexia Ward, the lone female on the Wildcat wrestling team, came into the first meet of the wrestling season with only one month of practice. Halfway into her first season on the mat, Ward has quickly become one of the best female wrestlers in the state.

Last weekend, Ward competed in the women's division of the Oregon Wrestling Classic in Redmond Oregon. Over 75 female wrestlers participated in the event. Competing at the 115-119 pound weight class, Ward went 3-0 pinning all three of her opponents in the first round. Next up for Ward is the Oregon State Qualifier in Hood River on January 28. The top two finishers at the State Qualifier advance to State Regional championship.
