Coho Salmon Return in over 30 years

In the last 30 years, there has never been recorded sitings of salmon through this small creek in Boring, Oregon that measures 4' wide and 1 1/2' deep at it's fullest. The elder homeowners of this same trench remember Salmon, Steelhead and trout running abundantly some 40 to 50 years ago.

About 3 years ago, a daring few salmon were spotted making a daring attempt up this creek that more resembles a ditch you would see on the side of the road, through culverts and ponds in the effort to spawn. The next year a few more. This year, an amazing show is happening in people's back yards! In one (1) hour of watching, we spotted over 14 Salmon in this little creek swimming, spawning, and generating hope. What a site to see! You can literally be so close that you can reach out and touch them! (Please don't)

I contacted Oregon Fish and Wildlife, and Clackamas County Fish and Wildlife. They reported that this is the largest run for Coho Salmon in years. They are very excited, and were helpful to educate on the salmon run, maintenance on streams and ponds, and general knowledge.

Hopefully, amidst all of the other chaos, this can be a good story to follow up with. Please hurry though. They will die soon.

The tributary is on Compton Road, in Boring. About the 3500 area, but I hear that the end of the road is even more packed, which is even more amazing since they have to swim up a concrete culvert!
