The residents living on Chehalem Mountain have been treated to a relatively rare occurance of Hoar Frost. These feathery ice crystals, some over an inch long form when the air temperature is below freezing and below the frost point. The frost point is the point at which water vapor in the air will directly form ice on seed objects.
