This is my Friend (and former Co-worker) Shelley Merrill. Her son Cameron has leukemia. They are currently at dornbecker's in isolation, due to a series of infections, and other issues related to the Chemo making his resistance to infection so low. Cameron has not eaten or spoken in 3 weeks due to the sores in his mouth and throat caused by the chemo. When his hair started to fall out in clumps, Shelley shaved his head to keep the falling hair from "itching" and "tickling" him... His frowning face provoked the question "are you mad at me?" he shook his head "no". "are you sad" he nodded "yes", "what can I do to make you happy?" Cameron pointing to his Mom's head. "you want to shave my hair?" he nodded "yes"... "and you will be happy?" he nodded "yes"... Shelley shaved her hair... and she is Beautiful!! There is so much more to Shelley's story, and the kind of women she is... so positive, and full of faith. In 2008 she had twins (they are now 4), they were born early, and could not nurse. Shelley pumped her milk to feed the twins, but more than that, she had enough milk for another baby! someone connected her with a mom who had to deliver her baby early due to breast cancer, and could not nurse. Shelley brought milk for that baby for a full year!! I am proud to call her my friend... You can see more of Shelley and Cameron's story on facebook at "Cameron Merrill's Big Fight"
