Me, Duke DesRochers working the Sauté end of the dinner line at the Thunderbird circa 1974... I still have the name tag. Head chef was Helmut Jacobs. Sous Chef Loren Kenny. I started washing dishes there when I was 16 and went on to be a head chef at The Parker House in Camas. Early in my cooking career I worked as the carver on the buffet line in the lunch time lounge. Thunderbird founders Mr. Ed Pietz and Todd McClasky would eat the prime rib I sliced often. Mr. McClasky ones chided me for giving him too big a slice of prime rib. I got married at 17 and had our Honeymoon night there. Free of course....
