Cops back on top of local Krispy Kreme doughnut shop
11:32 AM PDT on Friday, May 2, 2008
Area Krispy Kreme doughnut shops will be busy this weekend, not only making doughnuts, but also collecting money for Special Olympics.
Sheriff’s deputies from Clackamas County began patrolling the rooftop of the Krispy Kreme location on SE 82nd Avenue in Southeast Portland early Friday morning, May 2nd, with at least 1 deputy scheduled to be on the roof at all times until 2:00pm Sunday afternoon, May 4th.
The “Cops on Doughnut Shops” campaign is a nationwide effort to raise money for Special Olympics. In addition to the activity at the Clackamas Krispy Kreme, donations are also being collected this weekend at the Beaverton location on NW Cornell Road and the Vancouver location on NE Andressen Road.
Krispy Kreme will reward generous customers with special gifts, from a free doughnut for those who donate at least $5, to a free Krispy Kreme doughnut party for those who pony up $1,000 or more.
More information about Special Olympics Oregon can be found on their website, www.soor.org. To find the Krispy Kreme location nearest you, check out www.krispykreme.com.
