PORTLAND, Ore. – Rose City is ready to roar.
The second annual Bridgetown Comedy Festival returns to the Beermuda Triangle of Southeast Portland this weekend.
More than 120 acts will crack up crowds at Mt. Tabor, Eagle’s Lodge, Bar Of the Gods and Hawthorne Theater April 23-26.
This year, Janeane Garofalo, Brendon Small, David Koechner and Neil Flynn are headliners in a group whose credits include shows like The Office, SNL, Scrubs, Reno 911!, The Sarah Silverman Program and much more.
Local returning acts are The Famous Mysterious Actor Show and Seattle’s much-lauded People’s Republic of Komedy.
“I did a set on the evening of Saturday, March 8th. Two, really, in a fun, smelly rock club filled with resentful drunks wondering where the band was, and why these pasty drips with ironic T-shirts where on stage, whining about their love lives,” Patton Oswalt wrote after headlining the 2008 fest.

“It’s Disneyland for the alternative scene. ‘I’ve never seen such a low testosterone level in a city,’ said my wife, enchanted by Voodoo Donuts and the Chinese Gardens.”
“This festival exemplifies Portland’s ingenuity and its support of indie arts,” organizer Kimberly Brady says. “These are people that I’d travel to see, but we’ve been lucky enough to get them to assemble here for a four-day comedy blowout.”

Some of the proceeds this year will go to the Oregon Food Bank. Last year the festival gave $1,000 to the Oregon Red Cross’ local disaster relief fund.
A four-day festival pass is $50. Organizers said single-day tickets will be available at shows and prices vary.
