Sandy continues to race Northeast parallel to the East coast shoreline. Tropical storm force winds are blowing from S. Carolina to Virginia. Tropical storm warnings continue from South to North Carolina and for the Pamlico/Albermarle sounds. Sandy's wind field will continue to spread out as the storm collides with a winter storm to the West. The central pressures are expected to fall as Sandy approaches the coast. This will only increase storm surge flooding in the region early next week. Destructive hurricane force winds are also expected to start impacting the mid-Atlantic seaboard Monday.

Hurricane hunters are finding hurricane force winds just to the East of the center of circulation. The eye wall continues intact inspite of much drier air being pulled into the cyclone. If this trend continues Sandy may continue to intensify as it moves over warmer Atlantic waters.
