Portland ends August with only a trace of rain, tying the PDX record also held in 1998, 1970, 1967 and 1955.

The dry July and August combo finished with .21 inches of rain, the driest for the combined months since 2003.

Interesting to note that the summer of 1967 finished July and August with only a trace of rain, which is the record.

June through August is considered meteorological summer.  The mean temperature for the summer months was 2 degrees below normal.

August was the only month to average above normal temperatures.  The average high last month was 83 degrees.

Forecast outlooks continue to project below normal rainfall for Portland through October with near normal temperatures.
