PORTLAND -- A Portland band is out thousands of dollars after someone swiped their van with all their musical equipment inside.

Members of the band Mufassa were inside a home near Southeast 16th Avenue and Tamarack Street when the van was stolen between midnight and noon Tuesday.

They described the vehicle as a 1986 cream-colored Toyota cargo and said it was full of their guitars, amps, drums, cables and even some clothes.

“We try to play as much music as we possibly can. It's what we love to do. It's everything we're trying to do,” said band member Jess Suihkonen. “But now that they took our van. Not only can we not rock and roll, but we can't get to the next gig.”

The band put out the word through Facebook and is offering a reward. But so far they haven't uncovered any leads.
