HILLSBORO – An anonymous donor dropped three gold coins into Salvation Army kettles at a Hillsboro Fred Meyer.

Each coin is reportedly worth about $250, and they were still inside their collector cases, said Lt. Emmanuel Masango with the Salvation Army.

“(It’s) really really exciting and I'm just amazed at the generosity….I’m thankful because this allows us to help the needy in our community.” Masango said.
