PORTLAND-Tonight is date night and every night in August. It's a grass roots effort to light your fire - and also ignite business for restaurants and other date hot spots.
It starts with a challenge, 20,000 dates - one date per week over four weeks.
It's about putting the 'you' in your relationship needs, especially if your love life is DOA.
There are some 100 locations participating in Portland, Beaverton and Vancouver, from restaurants to movie theaters to retail stores.
A special free Date Night app lets daters know where the deals and discounts are, plus dating games, relationship quizzes, and a list of events this summer.
It's all helping drive business which helps drive the economy.
"We believe that we have about maybe twenty thousand people who are going to participate in the whole Date Night PDX, so just add up the dollars for the dates, right," said Ranjy Thomas, DateNightPDX, organizer.
