Severe Sunday storm on Larch Mt.

We took a drive Sunday after noon up Larch Mt. road to find the snow. Around 3:50pm we started to head down the 10 mile road. We encountered a severe storm that took down trees and power lines with lighting, thunder, and hail! We called 911 and awaited rescue. During my call to 911 there was lighting strikes and big thunder with trees snapping off in the clear cut to my right! The next truck to arrive was a local man named Dean who also made some phone calls to family and friends asking for help. There were 6 cars in all stranded waiting for help. One hour and forty five min. later we saw headlights. It was the friends and family of the local man Dean along with the Multnomah Co. sheriff. With two big trucks and two big chain saws we were free. It was not an easy task to continue down the Mt. There were 14 trees in all and the road was littered with large debris and power lines. They had cleared the way just enough that we all could get out! Boy were we happy to see them! It was and adventure we will NEVER forget. The sheriff told us that if it hadn't been for the local men it may have taken a lot longer to get to us! Yeah for Oregon spirit!
