Famous, or infamous, for the request that people visit but do not move to Oregon. Governor Tom McCall, perhaps more than any other person, saw the approaching conflict between necessary growth and the great beauty of the state he loved. This KGW profile of McCall by journalist Walden Kirsch, with photographer Nick Zeller, shows a man who by sheer force of personality gave voice to the idea of protecting and conserving the great beauty of the State he loved.
