PORTLAND -- A fallen tree blocked the roadway at a Northeast Portland intersection Thursday morning, but was cleared up just in time for the morning commute.
The tree fell down at Northeast Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Stanton Street at about 2 a.m. Crews equipped with chainsaws and a wood chipper were able to break up and remove the tree within four hours.
There were no reports of damage to nearby homes.
In Troutdale, there were several reports of fallen trees, as well as trash cans and basketball hoops blown into the streets. In addition to high winds in the Portland Metro area, a freezing rain advisory was in place for the western Columbia Gorge and the Northern Oregon Cascades.
