WASHOUGAL, Wash. -- A brazen prowler was caught on video rifling through a car outside a Washougal home Tuesday morning, police said.

"As many as five victims contacted the Washougal Police Department to report having had their cars rifled through with items taken ranging from loose change to a Samsung tablet," said Sgt. Geoff Reijonen.

The thief appraently takes his time inside the vehicles and walks away casually when he's satisfied.

Tim Ullom found out his stuff was stolen when he was headed to work Tuesday morning.

"Car door open, glove box open, everything rifled through," he said. Now he's missing a $200 pair of goggles.

Ullom has surveillance video, but he saw it long after the thief was gone. Policve hope the video will help them find the suspect.

Police said the man targeted cars on F, G and K streets. He was described as white, in his late teens or early twenties, carrying a dark backpack and wearing a lighter-colored baseball cap.

He apparently hasn't forced his way into any vehicles; he just checks for unlocked doors.

Police ask anyone with information on the suspect to call 360-835-8701. They also remind people to lock their doors and not leave anything valuable inside their cars.
