HONOLULU (AP) -- Hawaii fishermen have spotted a large dock drifting toward Oahu that may be debris from tsunamis that hit Japan last year.

The men said they found some writing on the floating debris that looked to be Japanese, and estimated that the dock's surface is 50 feet long and 30 feet wide.

A similar Japanese dock washed up on Agate Beach near Newport in June.

A warning to mariners has been issued by the Coast Guard.

Two Maui fishermen got an up close look at this huge dock. One of them even climbed aboard and saw the Japanese writing. They estimate it's about 30 feet by 50 feet.

Maui fishermen like George White are concerned that large-scale debris like this dock remain largely undetected and can seriously damage boats. "If it gets close to our reefs it's just going to wipe them out," said White.
