PORTLAND -- At least one passenger was hurt and a driver was arrested after a truck and TriMet bus collided in the Pearl District Wednesday night.
Witnesses said the truck went through a stop sign at Northwest Everett Street and Northwest 9th Avenue and crashed into the side of the bus at about 8:30 p.m.
About 14 passengers were on board at the time. One person was taken to a nearby hospital and others complained of minor injuries.
One witness told KGW it happened so fast that nobody on the bus knew what was going on.
“I kind of blacked out for a second. The woman next to me hit her head diagonally and was on the ground,” she said. "Then I realized I wasn't in the same position that I was at, and everyone was screaming.”
The driver of the truck, 23-year-old Torgan James Wilkinson, was arrested for DUII, reckless driving and criminal mischief.
Clean-up crews were called to the scene to keep the fuel from spilling into nearby storm drains.
