PORTLAND -- The Portland-Milwaukie light rail transit bridge now connects to the South Waterfront area.
This morning crews poured the concrete slab that connects the bridge to land.
Project manager Ralph Salamie said the bridge will be unlike anything that already exists in the Portland area.
"It's a unique application", Salamie said. "We don't have any cable stay bridges in Portland."
When it's finished, the bridge will carry light rail, buses, bike riders and pedestrians. No cars will be allowed.
Early in June, the middle of the bridge will come together and then it's scheduled to open for traffic in September of 2015.
