The USS Bush was attacked by Kamizake pilots on April 6, 1945 and nearly a third of the 273-member crew was lost.

The survivors of the attack have been meeting for memorial reunions for nearly 30 years. Last Sunday, they held a memorial at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
