PORTLAND – Medical marijuana plants were stolen from a home in Southeast Portland early Monday morning, police said.

The man told police that around 5 a.m., three suspects forced their way into his basement, where he was growing the pot plants. Then, the trio reportedly stole some plants and some growing equipment.

The man said he confronted the suspects and one of them pulled out a handgun and fired a single shot in the basement before running off. The suspect with the handgun was described as a white man in his early 20s. Police have not released descriptions of the other two suspects. The trio was last seen running southbound on 105th Avenue.

The growing operation was located inside a home in the 10400 block of Southeast Division Street.

Anyone with information that may help investigators was urged to call robbery detectives at (503) 823-0405, reference case number 12-63782.
