PORTLAND - Swift-water trained lifeguards will be on-site at Glenn Otto Park and High Rocks Park starting Memorial Day through Labor Day as rivers remained cold and fast with spring runoff.

Both parks have rapids and drop-offs.

Rescuers say the combination of swimmers overestimating their abilities and underestimating currents and the cold water can lead to trouble fast.
