GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. -- A proposed mountain bike park near Mt. Hood's Timberline Lodge is meeting opposition from environmentalists.
The park would include 15 miles of downhill trails, leading from the lodge to the base of the Jeff Flood express chair lift.
Work was set to begin this summer, but a final decision is now expected in March.
Environmentalists, including the group Friends of Mt. Hood, believe the trails will do too much damage to natural habitats.
Trail designers have said the impact would be minimal.
