PORTLAND -- Parents, you know how hard it can be to get your kids to turn off the TV or put down the cell phone and pick up a book.

But 5-year-old Michael Cone loves reading so much he's turned into a budding book critic on Youtube.

At least twice a week, Michael drags his mother to stores like Powell's Books to search for something new to read. Then he reads them, and with help from family and friends, he records his opinions and posts them online.

"Authors started coming to us and asking to us review their books,” said Michael's mother Lucy. “He's very flattered when that happens, but he doesn't always give them what they want. "But it's fun."

He's not just a critic. He’s an author as well.

Michael helped his mother write a book about their dog Lucy who passed away last year.

His mother said it helped them to heal and Michael hopes it helps others do the same.
