PORTLAND – Two bags of equipment were stolen from a Portland little league team Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

The Iron Pigs have asked the thief who stole their equipment to return it.

Their coach threw the gear bags into the back of his truck after practice and went straight to work at his overnight job.

At about 4:30 Wednesday morning he saw the back of his truck had been opened and two of the three bags of gear inside were missing.

The gear included first aid kits, all of the team's bats, two sets of catching gear and several mitts.

“We're really, really thankful that Portland little league is like a small family,” said Teka Clevidence, the coach’s wife. “All the managers started contacting us, saying, ‘Guess what, you can borrow this tonight, you can borrow this tonight.’ So we got all the equipment we needed to play. Because obviously you can't play a game without a bat.”

The team was taking it game-by-game and hoping someone would return the equipment.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Portland little league line at (503) 232-5646.
