PORTLAND -- A woman living in Southwest Portland reported seeing what appeared to be someone peeping in her bedroom window early Friday morning.
She did not want to use her name, but lives in an apartment near SW Bertha and Vermont.
She said since the weather warmed up, she started opening her window just a few inches to keep her room cool at night.
Around 1 a.m., she heard a rustling noise outside her window and looked up to see what looked like a person peering in at her through her window.
“I feel like it’s a basic human right that’s been violated,” the woman said.
She called police who inspected the property but didn’t find anyone.
The woman said she hopes the public uses this as a warning to think twice before going to bed with open windows at night.
“I just want people to keep in mind and go over the safety things they can do, because it’s hot and everybody wants to open the window, it’s natural. It’s just not safe enough all the time.”
