PORTLAND -- An inspiring yearlong, 10,000-mile journey from Portland to Patagonia, Argentina is under way.

Seth McBride is paralyzed, but that won’t stop him from completing a Pan-American tour on a hand cycle. He wants to raise awareness about the importance of exercise.

“To show the importance of being physically fit, and moving regardless of what you’ve got going on,” he explained.

Family and friends said goodbye to McBride and his fiancée Kelly Schwan before their journey Sunday.

They will have no crew and no vans, just two bikes and a trailer.
