PORTLAND -- Traffic is expected to be congested on U.S. 26 around Mt. Hood again Friday, the Oregon Dept. of Transportation reported.
Roads had been plowed and treated overnight and no precipitation was in the forecast, but traffic volumes were expected to create backups that would grow throughout the day and into the evening.
Drivers headed to the mountain were advised to have traction tires or carry chains and keep plenty of fuel in the tank. They were also asked to exercise patience.
Drivers returning the the Portland area Friday afternoon and evening were encouraged to use OR 35 southbound through Hood River and the Columbia River Gorge.
