PORTLAND – A man was burned in a house fire in North Portland early Thursday morning.
Firefighters said they found him on the porch of the home when they arrived to battle the blaze near the intersection of N Houghton and N Peninsular just after 4 a.m.
“Heavy smoke was coming from several second-floor windows,” said Justin De Ruyter with Portland Fire & Rescue. “Firefighters found a victim waiting on the front porch and the patient was transported to a burn unit.”
No further details were released about the victim’s condition or identity.
De Ruyter said firefighters searched the home for more potential victims and no one else was found inside.
It took firefighters about an hour to control the blaze. They don’t yet know what sparked it.
