Keely, the next time you cover 100 mph winds at Crown Point , don't wear heels...and do wear goggles.

Hey rushisaband...it was way more than a few minutes...... as one of the "self professed weather geeks", we were there for hours measuring wind gusts, and what is shown in the video is just a fraction of the mishaps that occurred at Crown Point, all due to extremely high winds....from people trying to lose car doors, to folks flying around from gusts, to objects being hurled by the wind...the list goes on...100 MPH winds rarely happen, especially around here, and that, in itself is video newsworthy, as are the complications that can result.

This was such a waste of broadcast time. Sure, now Keely and this NBC affiliate will be seen around the nation falling down but come on....Show us how windy it is and then move on...They stood out there for what seemed like a few minutes (appeared to me) and then gave into it. KGW is ranking up there with KPTV 12 for sensationalizing anything.

I wonder if the wind turbines were turning at ALL. They usually feather them in strong(er) winds...

My mother (Catherine Dunlap) worked at the old weather station at Crown Point in 1943. One night the anemometer blew off the building. The next day the Portland weather bureau came out and clocked the gusts at 135 mph. Going to school in Corbett, even in my growing up years, was brutal on a little girl's legs. No pants allowed back then...and that wind would keep our legs red and chapped all winter long. And we always parked the car into the wind so it didn't blow the doors off. My Louisiana born husband didn't believe me...until he nearly lost our car door!
