PORTLAND -- A freshman tech-geometry class at Benson High School in Portland is putting their knowledge of angles, surface areas and basic trigonometry to work for a good cause.

Armed with a $7,000 donation from Daimler Trucks, the students are building a shelter for a woman without a home.

"We took the kids out to Dignity Village, and we actually got to meet the lady who will live in the structure they are building," said Tim Hrtyciw, teacher at Benson High School. "It made a big difference on the kids."

The class is also building a playhouse for a bi-lingual preschool. They hope to have both projects wrapped up and delivered in May.
