PORTLAND – A foster mom in Portland appeared in court Friday accused of punching her 4-year-old foster child in the face.
Kimberly Vollmer, 33, was charged with assault and mistreatment.
According to police, Vollmer estimated on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being the highest) that the amount of force she used in striking the victim was a 10.
Earlier this month, police were called to Vollmer's North Portland home. Officers said a 4-year-old girl had a visible injury to her face.
According to court papers, other children in the home had been interviewed, and they personally witnessed the defendant strike the victim.
"I never seen much of a problem. They had a line of kids. They'd take them up to the school and play and bring them back down," said former neighbor Vic Saucerman.
All four foster children in the home have been safely placed elsewhere.
