We're off to another cold and icy start with temps generally in the 20s. We do have a Dense Fog Advisory in the Valley from about Canby south. Compared to yesterday, Portland is NOT under the Dense Fog Advisory and only has patchy areas with fog. Either way, if you see fog, assume ice because it's cold enough all over.
Into the afternoon temps will start to warm a little and by about noon-1pm we should see some rain push into the metro area and the valley. Initially the rain will fall as patchy freezing rain, which is liquid precipitation that falls on a surface at or below freezing and turns to ice instantly. The main trouble spots for freezing rain will be in the valley south of Salem, especially around Corvallis, and into the western end of the Gorge. The weather system coming in will scour out the cold air at the surface, but I still expect some patchy issues before we warm to above freezing all over.
