PORTLAND -- The family of Yashanee Vaughn held a vigil Sunday night, in an effort to try and keep the murdered girl on people's minds and continue the search for her body.
The 14-year-old girl's father and mother were among the many people who gathered to remind each other and the community not to give up.
Police believe Vaughn's boyfriend, 16-year-old Parrish Bennette, Jr. killed her three months ago.
Investigators think the murder occurred in a house not far from Rocky Butte. The area has been searched several times and police have not said what, if any clues they found. Vaughn's body has still not been found, either.
Bennette will be in court this coming Friday for a bail hearing in the murder case. Yashanee's family said they don't believe he acted alone in her murder and they had a message for him at the vigil:
"Parrish, we know you didn't do it by yourself. We don't know what happened... please just start talking and let us know who was there, what happened, so that we can get a closure," said Yashanee's mother, Shaquita Louis.
Crime Stoppers continues to offer a $1000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the Vaughn case.
