PORTLAND – Kids lined up for free professional haircuts in North Portland Monday as part of an annual event organized by the Salvation Army.
The event is called Santa Cuts and it’s been going on for more than 30 years. In that time, hundreds of families have received the special holiday gift.
“I really enjoyed seeing her light up like this. For us, it means a lot because we are on a really tight budget so any type of help we can get right now would be awesome,” said mom Jessica Hinsz.
“If you can buy a $10 or $15 dollar gift instead of getting a haircut, you are probably going to get a gift for your kid,” said Capt. Dwayne Patterson, a Salvation Army spokesman.
Santa Cuts is scheduled until 3 p.m. at the Salvation Army facility located at 5325 North Williams Street.
