The combination of heavy rains and piles of leaves on city streets will likely not be a good combination and could lead to street flooding.

Leaves piled against curbs and covered storm drains will quickly lead to ponding of water and dangerous driving conditions.

Residents are asked to keep leaves clear from the curb and away from drains.  Even in the best of conditions, wet leaves can be slippery and dangerous and will lead to standing water.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution, especially at night with poor visibility.  Remember pools of water can be dangerous and should be avoided.

The City of Portland will be collecting leaves and clearing neighborhood streets through mid-December.
