PORTLAND -- Trailblazer Brandon Roy has apologized for appearing in a music video that includes marijuana smoking.

He said that was never his intention, and that he agreed to pose with people who then included his image in the video.

Roy said he does not use marijuana nor does he condone its use.

The director of the video defended his work, saying the marijuana smoking in the video was being taken out of context. The storyline in the video of two youths who ultimately recognize the dangers of drug abuse.

"As a director, I admit I grapple with some of the ideas of putting some of those images together but I thought toward the end it would be understood that he is a model, he is a model citizen," said Chris Gamble.
