WARRENTON, Ore. -- A criminal dubbed the 'Barefoot Bandit' who police believe has stolen planes, luxury cars and power boats and broken into homes in Washington, British Columbia and Idaho may now be targeting the Oregon Coast as well.
Now, authorities in Warrenton, Ore. think Colton Harris-Moore may be behind recent criminal activity there.
According to an article in the local online newspaper, HeraldNet, a boat theft, an attempted plane theft and a car theft all within a short time span on June 1 carried the hallmarks of the teenage fugitive.
“We have a very quiet, low-crime community,” Warrenton Police Chief Matthew Workman told local reporter Jackson Holtz. “It stands to reason they would be related.”
Meantime, an anonymous donor recently offered to pay the notorious Washington state teen burglar $50,000 if he turned himself in. But Harris-Moore never appeared.
Nineteen-year-old Colton Harris-Moore has been on the run since April 2008, when he escaped from a group home south of Seattle.
Police said he also apparently likes to commit his crimes shoeless.
