PORTLAND -- A man accused of breaking at least one window and slashing several car tires was arrested in Southeast Portland soon after a witness called 911, police said.

Police were called just after 9:30 p.m. Monday to the report of someone smashing a car window near Southeast 18th Avenue and Belmont Street, according to Portland Police Sgt. Pete Simpson. The caller said a man left the area on a bicycle.

Responding officers learned the same suspect was seen slashing tires on nearby vehicles, Simpson said. They arrived within minutes and arrested the suspect, 24-year-old Robert Allen Bradford.

He was jailed for criminal mischief and additional charges are possible. Simpson credits the quick action of the 911 caller.

People in the area finding their vehicles damaged Tuesday morning were asked to call (503) 823-3333 and reference case number 12-103475.
