From the KGW Archives:
In 1966 the Western "The Way West", an adaptation of the Pulitzer prize winning novel of the same name by author A. B. Guthrie, was shot on location in Oregon.
This intervew was part of a special KGW presentation on the making of the film that included a look behind the scenes and a tour of the set with actor Kirk Douglas as well as interviews with Richard Widmark and Sally Field.
The interview was notable for the rather difficult demeanor of Mr. Mitchum. Something the interviewer, KGW's Ivan Smith, was quite aware of going into it.
