Luxury ship bids Portland bon voyage

The World The World has left Portland.
The massive luxury liner, docked downtown since Monday, made quite a U-turn Friday morning and headed up the Willamette River.
The ship isn’t your ordinary love boat. It’s essentially a high-end condo complex. You buy a home or time share on board, or travel as a vacationing guest. Many areas of the ship have restricted access.
What passes for steerage on The World runs $1,300 to $2,300 a night for a studio, including food and booze. Two and 3-bedroom suites run $2,500 to $4,750.

The cruise ship’s next stop will be Astoria, then on to Seattle.
The World circumnavigates the globe every two years. It's journey on this leg started in Los Angeles and ends in Victoria, British Columbia.
