PORTLAND -- Record spring break crowds are expected to pass through Portland International Airport between March 19 and April 7.

The Port of Portland estimated more than 810,000 travelers will use the airport during the busy spring travel season. During the busiest periods, more than 44,000 passengers will pass through PDX each day, up from the daily average of 39,000 travelers.

With more people traveling this year passengers may face some delays, according to airport officials.

To make travel easier, PDX urged passengers to review flight schedule information before leaving home, arrive at the airport two hours before domestic departure times and two and half hours before international departure times.

Leisure travelers may not be aware of liquid and gel restrictions for carry-on baggage. The Transportation Security Administration will allow liquids and gels if they are in containers less than 3.4 ounces in size and if all containers fit in a clear, one-quart, zip top bag.

For people picking passengers up at PDX, airport officials suggested using the cell phone waiting lot near the terminal on Northeast Air Cargo Road.

Overall travel is expected to grow 3 percent over last year. PDX set an all time record for serving 14.6 million passengers in 2007.
