Monday is Labor Day.

For many that means it’s time to throw a party at the end of summer. And for the kids it means it’s time to get back to school. From the KGW Archive here’s this week’s Flashback:

August 30th 1991 -- It’s Polka Time!!

There’s the Polish style, the Chicago Push, the Dutchman, the Cleveland even the Norteno in Mexico.  It’s the Polka - and these folks take it very seriously,  but all while having a lot of fun.

June 11th 1997 – You’re in First Grade!

Photojournalist Kurt Austin went to the last day of kindergarten at Kenton Elementary as the kids cleaned up and closed down their classroom. It’s a right-of-passage for the kids because as their teacher says goodbye for the summer – they leave knowing they’re finally first graders.

Polka Fest or Classroom Party?
