REDMOND, Wash. -- Microsoft is offering rebates to shoppers who use its search engine to make a purchase.

Users who sign up for an account on the Live Search cashback site receive a percentage of the purchase price.
Microsoft is looking for ways to boost its share of the Internet search market, after the attempt to take over Yahoo was rejected. Microsoft is reportedly talking with Yahoo about a more-limited search and advertising deal.
