Ashland adopts anti-cyberbullying policy
05:05 PM PDT on Wednesday, April 16, 2008
ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) -- The Ashland School Board adopted a state-mandated policy prohibiting cyberbullying this week, but members say the policy is only the start and more talks are needed on the subject.
Cyberbullying includes anything intended to harm or insult another person through text messaging, e-mails or posting photographs or videos online.

Ashland High School officials say the school has averaged about one cyberbullying incident per week.
The district has blocked several popular networking sites to prevent cyberbullying, but kids can easily assume an online alias and send threatening messages or post embarrassing photos online from home, which makes enforcing policies difficult.
