PORTLAND – A teen allegedly high on heroin led police on a chase across state lines Thursday before ramming into a patrol car and getting arrested.

Washington State Patrol troopers chased the stolen black Ford Mustang along I-5 and then the driver crossed the Fremont Bridge and exited the freeway onto Northwest 29th Avenue.

That's when the suspect turned the Mustang around and rammed a WSP patrol car, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson with the Portland Police Bureau.

Troopers were able to box the car in along the side of a building, and suspect Alexander Kean Barber was captured.

Barber, 19, was taken to a Portland hospital to be treated for a suspected heroin overdose. His female passenger was released without charges and given a ride home.

After he was treated at the hospital, Barber was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of attempted assault, attempt to elude by vehicle, criminal mischief, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and reckless driving.
