PORTLAND – A semi-truck crash closed the northbound left lane of Interstate 5 on the Marquam Bridge for a time Friday afternoon.
The Oregon Department of Transportation said the truck was towed off the bridge and all lanes were reopened just after 4 p.m.
The lane was expected to remain closed at least through 5 p.m., affecting rush hour traffic, according to ODOT spokesman Don Hamilton. Crews cleared the scene faster than they expected.
Hamilton said the truck was carrying a load of lumber when the load shifted.
There didn't appear to be serious damage to the bridge, but 80 feet of fence was torn and oil was leaking into the roadway. Hamilton said the leaking oil could be a danger to the Willamette River.
